Questions
Before you begin, the plain answers
What the dose actually feels like, what it costs, and whether it works alongside what you already take. If your question is not here, just ask.
01 Starting out
What is Goldenturas?
An integrative psychiatry practice offering care by telehealth in California,
led by a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner. We look at the whole
picture: what you have tried, what you inherited, and what you are living
through now.
Is this right for me?
Goldenturas is for people ready to move forward from where they stand now.
If you have cycled through medications, feel unseen in fifteen-minute
appointments, or want a gentler option than an infusion clinic, this may be
your path. The evaluation exists partly to answer this question honestly,
including when the answer is no.
How do I begin?
When you are ready, you can book. The first visit is a full evaluation, and
nothing starts before you have a written plan you agree to.
02 The ketamine program
What does “very low dose” actually mean?
It means a dose intended to keep you present and coherent rather than to
produce a psychedelic experience. Most people describe a mild softening
rather than a journey. You do not need a sitter, and most people carry on
with an ordinary evening afterward. Your exact dose is set individually and
adjusted over time.
Do I have to do ketamine to be a patient here?
No. Goldenturas can serve as your complete psychiatric provider with or
without ketamine involved. Plenty of people come for thoughtful medication
management and whole-person psychiatric care and never start the ketamine
program at all.
Can I keep taking my current antidepressant?
Usually yes. Ketamine can often be combined with existing psychiatric
medications when it is clinically appropriate, and we review your full
medication list carefully during the evaluation. You will never be asked to
stop something abruptly to qualify.
How do you know whether it is working?
We use validated rating scales at regular intervals alongside your own
account of how life actually feels. Both matter. If the numbers and your
experience disagree, we talk about it rather than defaulting to one of them.
And if the plan is not working, we say so.
03 Cost and insurance
What does care cost?
The initial evaluation is $300
and follow-up visits are $150.
If ketamine is part of your plan, the medication is billed separately by a
compounding pharmacy, not by us. We have no financial interest in what you
are prescribed.
Do you take insurance?
We do not bill insurance directly. Goldenturas is a cash-pay practice, and
payment is due at the time of service. A superbill can be provided on
request, which many patients submit for out-of-network reimbursement. We
know this model puts care out of reach for some people, and we would rather
say so plainly than pretend otherwise.
04 Practical details
Where is care available?
Anywhere in California, by telehealth. In-person care is coming soon for
those in or near Ventura County, including Camarillo, Thousand Oaks, Oxnard
and Ventura.
How long is an appointment?
The first visit is fifty minutes. Follow-ups are long enough to actually
talk, rather than a quick check on a prescription.
Who will I actually see?
Shannon Enochs, DNP, PMHNP-BC, at every visit. Not a rotating care team,
not an app that checks in by text.
Now accepting new patients

Still have a question?
Ask it plainly
One conversation is enough to find out whether this is the right path for you. If it is not, we will say so.
Not for emergencies. If you are in crisis, call or text 988.
